If hei’s f+4 hits and opponent is forced into crouch is d/f+12 guaranteed after?
If hei’s f+4 hits and opponent gets knocked to the ground (CH?) is d+4 guaranteed after?

On normal hit, if they are currently crouching, you get a free df+1,2 when you hit f+4.

If you hit them but they were standing, nothing is guaranteed, but you get a lot of +frames. On any CH, it causes a knockdown.

Another question, this time about gameplay.

Currently I’m trying to utilise hei’s pokes depending on the range (jabs/df1/d4/1b2 up close, f3/f4/db2 range 1, uf34/ff2/ff3 range 2+) and throwing out EWGF if my opponent either looks like theyre about to come in and attack, whiffs or as a punish. My movement is not great so I barely ever get chances to whiff punish but its something I’m working on. Throw out the odd HS too (but not too often) as either CD4n4 or CD44n4 mixup. Will either get a launch off the 2nd sweep or +frames if they duck.

Am I on the right track here in terms of a gameplan? I’m yet to develop setups for stuff like f4 or db2 but will get around to it (not a fixed flowchart but a gameplan depending on how my opponent reacts to those moves and how best to counter or change for next time I use them).

I’m basically writing up notes about my mains to refer to and try to develop and adapt my gameplay.

Thanks~

That all sounds pretty reasonable! Keep working on movement, obvs.

I usually don’t just throw out ff3 — it seems better out of a crouchdash mixup just because it’s not that fast and the range isn’t great. Hei specialists may want to comment, though.

is there something to make bf23 easier to connect after f23 in juggles?input buffering maybe?
I’m having troubles not simply getting f2, the back input gets completely ignored

could be a combination of the socd in my board and timing as well, looking for a cheap alternative

Mm, just takes practice, I think. Getting bf moves consistent on hitbox is a little tricky, but you’ll get there! Probably practice with command history on, in practice mode to see what the game is actually getting. The timing is not that tricky for f+2,3 bf+2,3 in juggles.

needs that motion all the time, so I’m getting a lot of practice…

did u/f+3,4 got nerfed? Jdcr does not use this move anymore. How I wish Heihachi has a better low.

Anyone knows how to cancel f,n,d,d+f+3 (Jumping mid kick/low kick)? JDCR and other korean players does this for potential mix-ups.

When you say “cancel”, do you mean “get the low”? If you hold df when you’re doing the crouchdash 3, you get the low version.

I don’t know of a way to cancel out of the animation entirely… could you link an example of what you’ve seen people do?

It does feel easier to avoid now :-O

And it’s only +1 or +2 — in TTT2 it was +3 on block. On the upside now it causes a tail spain!

And yeeaaahh, he could really use a fast knockdown low.

What’s the best guaranteed string or juggle to do when you get to the opponent’s side or back?

Anything else? 1,1, d/f+1,2 seems a bit underwhelming

are the boards dead or what ?

What’s hapening here with Heihachi ? So little interest !??

So started Hei after working my way to Vanguard with Kaz for a little more than a month.

Interesting movelist but somewhat deceived by his lows and chains.

Still struggling to understand his OKI , any good info for that ?

EWGF damage is good and easy, but other than that most of his CH have no particularly easy high dmg combos and his wall game seems fair at most ?

going in from Kazuya, i sooo much miss the df2 and WS2 of kaz …

What’s with Hei WS punishment ?

Stuck with crouch cancel EWGF ?

Even is DB2 ending up in crouch seems very limited compared to KAZ and JIN DB4

Why do you think JDCR favors Hei over DJIN in tourneys ?
we don’t see that many Hei online, maybe unfamiliartity is some of it?

cheers all

@jinmtvt These are all really good points!

I feel like I was doing a lot better with Hei in TTT2; in T7, Kaz is feeling a lot more effective, at least in my hands. I think for Hei in T7 you have to rely more on good poking and good movement.

(it also might just be that my Kaz relies too much on random hellsweeps into oki, and that this is a self-limiting crutch that I’ve been relying on, but shouldn’t.)

Alexr : well 50/50 oki is kinda strong point of KAz ..at my ” noob” level i won probably near 25% of my rounds only with oki ( why they just don’t stay on the ground never seems to amaze me .. )
FF4, HS, WS2, FF3 and CD into the DF1+2 throw are all crazy tools for oki.

I am still struggling to understand HEI oki …lots of his enders push far or are too long on recover and this limits the use of the stomp … when is it ok to use the stomp ?

you can get out of almost all of this oki just by techrolling

I thought HEI would be easier than Kaz but i think i was wrong … just as difficult or even more
need to rely even more on basics !

he has lots of plus frame moves, but they all push way too far and he has no good lows to use on small + frames to keep the momentum

Combed through the tubes to find anyone else using HEI other than JDCR …damn
not much luck

any pointers ?

Monstroso from Seattle is pretty good, and I think he’s worth watching, because he’s stronger than either of us, but he’s still human. He’s like “threatening to win tournaments in Seattle” good, not “top 5 in the world”; doing what he does is a little more accessible.

kewl … will look more into him!

played a few rank battles to test some stuff

rekt everybody like they weren’t even there … i think it is due to lack of experience with Heihachi
in the lower ranks ..i actually never played against any heihachi that was lower than end of greens or higher so i keep getting them with basic db2 mix ups and CH on almost all strings :p
boooring fights though ..not learning shiznit from this!

played a fellow Hei of similar skills tonight ..
OMFG the pressure by the mixup including DB2 even on neutral

the only other character that makes me feels like so is Josie with her annoying fast lows

What are you guys doing to pressure with Hei? I play him a lot but his pressure game seems kind of pokey at best, but I might be doing something wrong. I usually try and DB+2 or B+2 or d/f+1,1 type of mix ups but I generally find his jab game is pretty weak for pressuring. His jab strings are good but flash punch is punishable, and it feels bad throwing out 1,1 or 1,2,2 since its alll high. His 1, b+2 is nice but I feel like it kills momentum if blocked.
