Please someone explain why i can’t consistently get a b2,1 to connect on a CH 4 ( front standing )
i tried different characters, angles, distance..something i am missing probably but i can’t get it to hit consistently with a definite situation

Also, i never really pay attention to it, but on hit it says ~+16kg on rbnorway … kg ??
so in the lab, on hit ( not CH ) we are garantee a followup ? i can’t get anything else than F4 and f,f+2 to connect because of the pushback, but both seem inevitable and you can’t even crouch fast enough
weirdly, EWHF doesn’t reach always so too risky

What do you guys use after a magic 4 connects ?

thanks again

d2 on small characters
b2,1 on buff male characters

d2 should be your preferred follow-up on all characters on temple stage (CH 4 d2 FB! db3 S! etc)

Which move do you pick for the best zoning/ch launcher tool?

Jin’s f+4 or Lee’s df+4?

Jin also has a similar df+4 but has poor range and hitbox

I love the damage possible with CH df4 but damn …i20 and short range make it hard to use.
F4 is every situation tool .

15:07 This really hurts to see. I thought AOP was the only thing that could go under it. The nerf on this move was hard…

Tips for using uf3:

We often ignore this move. I see very few Jin players using this move, and they often use it like some bad version of a backswing blow. Even though it’s a safe low crush mid CH launcher, it’s very slow (24f IIRC), meaning that you can easily be floated to a combo, But as I described, tis move is a safe low crush mid CH launcher. How many characters have an option like that?

SO I started to brainstorm during the shower (don’t ask) on how we can use this move. Using it on neutral while the opp is approaching (after a combo or whatever) seems like a bad idea since this move is really slow. Maybe ub3 is better? Or maybe using it in a situation that our are at – frames but the disadvantage is not high? Of course, it would be ub3.

Another situation that I think it would work better is during oki with an opp that preffers to go for a low get up kick (1) OR in a situation where the opp does nothing to avoid getting into a WD mixup (2)
1- For this situation, it’s quite easily to see why it would be useful. You can argue that WD~CD3 is a better option, since it wouldn’t matter it it’s a low or mid get up kick. But I stated before that it’s for opp that really preffers using low get up kick. Of course, after the first 2 CH combos, he would probably go for the mid get up kick. No, not probably, I’m certain that he would go for the mid option. So with that in mind, you may parry to can can or you may simply block the kick for a f1+2 punish (the range is great). And that is yet another mind game that Jin would have.
2- I hate when this happens. I usually do d2 or 4~3 if they stay down, but I’m thinking of using uf3 while using jabs or df1 as bait. Of course, I think we have better options for mid ch launchers on this case. uf3 would be an option if you know the opp will use a low.

Another option of using it is during oki situations when YOU are on the ground, more specifically at the end of the round, but it may be useful during the round. This would be a more agressive option if you want to turn the momentum of the match. If you guess the opp is going low after you getup, you may use uf3 as a the SAFE LOW CRUSH MID COUNTER HIT LAUNCHER.

Any thoughts?

DIgons : i use it very often

my primary use for it is when i feel they are going for an annoying low hit

either at the beginning of rounds or when i’m 1 hit from dying and they’re looking for a low quick hit

very good move but yeah a bit slow

you can also start the round using u/b3 and it moves out and crushes lots of starters
hit CH often on players that start off aggressive

good stuff mate ! keep it going

ah yeah, don’t worry too much about what others are using or not
if you feel like using it and it works for you, do it!

CH 4 b21 is related to characters range active frames of CH4 itself and hitbox

Smallest characters won’t connect unless they trade with a non knockdown move with the same hit advantage as jab.

Medium size characters will only connect B21 if up close or if CH4 hits on the last active frame

Big Sized characters will connect no matter the range or the active frame CH4 hits.

Small characters (impossible to connect unless a trade happens) mostly characters you can only jab 1 into bd223 at the call
Xiaoyu, Akuma,Asuka, Josie, Chloe pretty sure there is more, can’t remember them all.

characters who are affected by range (needs to be up close for b21 to hit) Mostly chars you can jab 2, db223 at the wall or sometimes df1 for a splat and bd223 to connects afterwards:
Kazuya, Jin, Hwoarang, Law, lee, Raven

Characters who only get launched if hit by the last active frame of 4
Leo, Hwoarang, Jin, Kazuya, Law, lee, maybe Katarina must have even more.

Characters who will always get launched by it no matter where or how they get hit by it (mostly any character you can df1 into bd223 at the wall.
Lars, Heihachi, Bryan, Paul, Dragunov, Gigas, Bears, Nina, Claudio, King, Miguel.

If they remove the push back that happens on CH and reduce one frame in recovery when CH4 happens it will connect on everyone.

Eddy, I have a question to you. Or questions. I follow your channel on youtube but communication there is limited.

1- In the 100$ combo, do you delay the first ZEN1 a little bit? So that it may be easier to connect the micro dash?

2- This is going to be a hard question to answer, but WHEN do you use EWHF? I have the feeling that it has low range if I don’t dash before doing it. So when do you use it? How to be effective while using it? Ignore execution by itself while answering this one, since this is not that much of a problem.

Digons: Eddy will have the best answer, but i agree with you that EWHF range is not that great if you simply throw it from standing but it does have a serious hit box thus it is a great catch tool when dashing forward
and stepping.

The problem with EWHF i see, is that nobody seems to be following up with something.
it’s +5 on block, why is almost everyone backdashing after getting an EWHF blocked is beyond me.

Maybe everyone is so obsessed with backdashing that they do it without being conscious ? :p

I’ve been working on frames lately …and i can tell you that as soon as you acquire a frame advantage being from a blocked + move or when your opp is minus after you blocked, the mixups and followups need to get working until you’ve depleted your advantage

you’d be very surprised how many yellow + players i’ve caught multiple times
going for simple uf1+2 / df2+3 throws after a 2-1 punish
and then they start ducking and you mix in cd1/F4 / FF3 etc…

but it takes alot of reflexes to be able to optimally use all advantages and probable few hundred hours of play and labbing/learning

Hey guys. THis is me playing against a solid tekken player (Vanguard at 0 wins). I lose ALL of the matches. I just want you to tell me what sort of fundamentals I’m lacking. 2 things that I noticed is that I couldn’t launch punish lightning screw and duck df+2,1. I probably missed other things as well, but this is just character knownledge.
I want to know what my game is missing. The fundamentals. And HOW to train then. i want to get better. I feel like I’m hitting a wall for a few weeks and I can’t get past it. I need your help.
