Brain Dump from Psylence

This won't necessarily make sense to anyone else, but I want some where to put a lot of random information.

df+1

  • Nina's df+1 has a different hit box if you do it df~1. It hits lower and wider.
  • If you do f,f,df~1 the hit box is stupidly wide. You can hit people behind you with it.

Backsway

Back sway can be used to option select some mixups.

  • Paul's d+1,2_4 - it will go under the mid and block the low.
  • Lili's 1,2,3_4 - it will go under the mid and block the low.

It can also be used to just straight up make some moves whiff.

  • Heihachi's ff+2 - if timed correctly will cause it to whiff at range 0


Against certain characters, they have VERY limited options with dealing with backsway at range 1+

Heihachi

* If you get in the habit of just doing qcb,N at range 1+ Heihachi has to really watch his timing on hellsweeps or electrics otherwise they'll be ducked/blocked.
* At this range most of his mid options will either whiff or are too slow to hit during the crouch animation and will just get blocked.

Draganov

* Drag's df+2 and d+2 will whiff at range 0 against back sway
* df+1 if timed and spaced correctly will hit.
* df+4 will usually hit
* 3 will usually hit


Wall Pressure

Safe mid Wall splats

* qcf+2
* db+2
* df+2
* b+3, [Hit confirm] 4
* uf+1
* f,F+1+2 *very long hold
* qcb,N:1+2 *hold
* ss+1+2 - -10 but safe due to pushback

High Safe Wall Splats

* ff+2
* f+3 *they can duck the 2nd hit if they react fast
* CH 4

Useful Non safe wall splats

* uf+3 - i14 only -10 on block, and it has a really early low crush window.
* ws+1,1+2 - useful after ss+1 pressure if you think they'll twitch. Opponent can duck the 2nd hit and launch though
* 3, 4 - Good for if the wall is to your right, it'll throw them that way
* 1,2>1>2>1+2 - this delayable string can make the opponent want to twitch, especially if you don't finish it a few times prior
* d+3,2 - high crushing CH splat


Dirty tricks

  • Situation: Opponent's back to the wall
  • Setup: After wall pressuring and you've got them just standing and blocking
  • Action: qcb+1+4 - unbreakable grab that does 15 damage, +3ish if you don't follow up with extensions.
  • The Dirty Trick: People tend to mash chain throw breaks, Nina's qcb+1+4 is a quick throw, and people will mash 1 or 2 to break the extension, but since its +3ish you will CH wall splat them with b+2,2,2 - Magic 4 - or 2,f+1+2 if they try to mash the break


  • Situation: In an open floor Juggle, post bound proceeding with the regular ender WS+1, ff+3
  • Setup: Instead of ending with ff+3, dash and do d+4,1. If you time it right you will reset the juggle. This will condition the opponent to tech during that situation
  • Action: Once they tech, don't use the d+4,1 anymore. Instead dash, do a quick sidestep to re-align. then do hcf, db+2+3
  • The Dirty Trick: Once they get used to that setup, you can finish with qcf+1, the startup frames look very similar to hcf,db+2+3

Movelist Notes

  • Wall break grounded - if the opponent is standing or crouching when the move hits on normal hit (non-counterhit) the move will break the wall. For strings the last hit only
  • WB Air - will break the wall during a juggle or float. For strings the last hit only
  • WB CH - Same as grounded, but on Counterhit.
  • Tracking (Work in progress subject to change) Left and right - How well the move/string tracks to the left - since side step takes 5 frames to execute, a move has no tracking if it can be completely sidestepped at +5. Each hit in the string can have different tracking amounts. If a string can be sidestepped out of a <> will indicate that.
  • (0) No Tracking - can be stepped when Nina is +5
  • (1) Little tracking - Can be stepped when Nina is +2 - +4
  • (2) Medium tracking - can be stepped when Nina is -2 - +2
  • (3) High tracking - can be stepped when Nina is -6 - -2
  • (5) Homing - Cannot be stepped in that direction
