The Ki Power charge is done by pushing 1+2+3+4. It takes 55 frames
to charge up, at which time you cannot input any attack or motion
commands. The Ki Power is active for up to 120 frames, this status
will end prematurely however when you get hit or when you hit your
opponent.
You can tag to your other character during the Ki Power, the new
character coming in will also possess the Ki Power. A tag does not
affect the maximum duration of the Ki Power.
To avoid the lengthy 55 frame charge animation you can also do the
Kobayashi Charge, named after the Japanese player who discovered
and mastered this technique. This method requires a bit of luck
and good anticipation on your part. You need to hit 1+2+3+4 just
before you are about to be thrown and then escape the throw with
the proper escape command. After escaping the throw you will possess
the Ki Power.
The Ki Power charge has a significant impact on both your character
and your opponent's character. Remember that these changes only
apply for the the first hit dealt or received.
