The customization section for each character is split into two groups. The first group covers the items you can buy for
the character and the price for each item. Each item has a small button icon indication the outfit you can buy the item for.
The 'P' and 'K' naturally stand for 'Punch' and 'Kick', the 'S' is for 'Special Outfit' (Ling's and Asuka's customizable 3rd
outfits) and the 'X' icon indicates a 'Cross Over' item. Cross over items you can purchase from either outfit and can be
equipped on all outfits, you only have to purchase the item once.A colored icon means the item is new for Dark Resurrection.
The second group cover the color customizations available for the character's outfits. Every color available is listed,
including the default colors which obviously you do not have to buy. Keep in mind each color has to be purchased seperately for
each customizable area.
Updating Tekken 5 & 5.1 Cards To Dark Resurrection
Just insert your old card into the cabinet and the game will ask you to upgrade your card. Once you select 'Yes' the card will no
longer work on the previous versions.
Transferring Data To Another Card
This works as it did for the Tekken 5 cards, just insert a blank card and your old card together in one slot and the game will
ask you if you want to transfer the data to another card.
Updated Card Data
A few things happen to your card data when you upgrade it to Tekken 5:DR. First of all, your customizations and character title
will be reset to default so you will have to customize your character from scratch. You do however keep all the items you have
purchased on the previous game. As a bonus you will also be able to use all the 5.0 colors whether you previously purchased them
or not.
Secondly, your rank will be dropped back to 1st Dan and your win/loss ratio is reset to zero as well so you have to start all
over in that department.
Keep in mind the above only applies to updated card data, when creating a new card everything is the way it was before. You start
at 'Beginner' rank and you will have to purchase every single color at 10,000G each. Dark Resurrection no longer has 2 tier
pricing for colors, all colors including black and white are 10,000G.
Receiving Credit When Upgrading Cards
You might not have noticed this when you upgraded your card, but it is possible you received some credits. If an old color
you had purchased is no longer in the game (such as all the 'plum' colors) you will receive a credit.
This is especially good news for the Christie users out there that saved up to buy the pricy Eddy customization on Tekken 5. Eddy
of course is no longer an item for Christie since he is selectable on his own, if you have bought this item on Tekken 5 you will
be happy so see your Christie card now got back all of the 500,000G!
Character Aura & Aura Random Change
Aura is a customization new to Dark Resurrection, and specificly created with the Japanese online Tekken-Net service in mind
(which is probably why it is somewhat bizarre anywhere else). After buying the initial aura, which is White Level 1, players in
Japan can use Tekken-Net to buy a chance to level up for 20,000G at the Aura Training Center. Reportedly your chances of actually
leveling up are linked to your ghost's winning percentage on the network. If the training is successful you then move up to White
Level 2, after maxing out the size you get promoted to a new color and the cycle starts all over again.
Now for the markets outside of Japan, Namco's solution to making the aura work without the network is the Aura Random Change
feature. Which is exactly as the name implies... random. After purchasing the initial aura you can at anytime buy the random
change to acquire a new color and size level. There is nothing more to it, it doesn't not appear to be linked to your win/loss
ratio or how well your ghost does on a particular machine.
When you equip aura all other custom items will be automaticly removed, you can still change outfit colors however. And if having
no control over the aura wasn't bad enough, be careful about removing the aura from your character as it will reset to the
default White Level 1 next time you choose to use it... it's a bottomless money pit folks!
