I figured I'd start a good discussion as we get closer and closer to a console release, so lets start here...

Who's your partner and why? Let's talk strategy and not just say "well, I like the look of him/her".

Personally, I'm really looking at Kaz and Asuka. With Asuka having an obscenely strong keep-out game, most opponents who have half a brain will be turtling the girl. What that means is, Asuka becomes a life battery, giving Kaz a chance to regen should a HS get blocked and he get punished hard for it. If someone over extends, Asuka gets a chance to turn the tables, while if they don't they're risking Mishima vengence. At the same time, Kaz can take a few risks to take the life lead, then tag in Asuka and force them to play to her strengths.

Beyond that, Kaz can handle some of Asuka's rougher match-ups (JC, for example, can shut Asuka's defense game down with 4~2>1). As long as he can flip them after d/b+2~5 and WS3~5, as well as b! after launch~d/b+4,3~5, I really see him as the perfect partner for her.

My partner for Asuka is:

Asuka/Xiaoyu

With the ability of Asuka to coop up with safe launchers and parrying with Xiaoyu, they could be the best evasion partners. Mixing up with reversals and parries are good partners in my opinion. Xiaoyu has few good damage with only a safe launch from AOP d+1+2, a vast evasive tools to keep up from launch punishing when you tag in Asuka. As Asuka for the lead, she can get more red life situations that can lead her to many setups. Personally, it's all about evasion in this team.

Runner up:

Asuka/Lili

Obviously Lili is the most nerfed in TTT2. Since she still have the good combos and damages in her overall potential, I don't see her bad with Asuka. Asuka and Lili have the best wall carriers in the game, and their wall combos in together can obliterate the opponent's HP bar in just a single launcher. Asuka tends to balance Lili's nerfeds, so you can only be able to switch in to Asuka mostly.

Asuka/Jun

So I can be lazy and not think too much between switching with character meta games. Asuka makes the better anchor due to standard Kazama safety where as Jun has more tricks with her stance options ss cancels of strings and 50/50's.

Asuka/Jin

Used Jin in T5/DR, didn't use him in T6 as his output was bog average making him a dull character outside of parry. Jin on point for better +frames off faster lows (d4) and poking up close with the standard 2,1, df1 business. I read that apparently the new df1,4 is NC ch HC. Jin's recieved some decent offenise and combo buffs with the ability to use his stance options to pressure from strings and attacks with f4~f, 3,1~f and the like eg. whiff punish with f4~f into stance mixups so he's much more interesting now. Plus Jin b1+2~5 into team specific combo is cool too. Both characters work well on point and as anchors.

Asuka/Lili

No...Went thru my Lili phase, will play just to get the matchup down, bollocks to Lili, never again...

Asuka/Kaz

Uncle Kaz you know...

Asuka/Julia

They have a tag throw with Asuka b1+2~5. That and this would likely be my team win due to that I've played these characters the most...Until I completely switch to Changs lol.

Personally and it's an old Kof habit, I just like playing set teams as it looks cooler and you get all the perks of team synergy, nice looking tag throws/tag throw mixups. As for team setups I believe in 'power side forwards' as you would perform better with your main straight out of the gate as opposed to reserving them for when it may be too late. Of course this tactic can be reversed depending on your opponent and the length of the set you're playing.

Yoko said the big reason I am staying with this team, wall carry potential. This team can pretty much take any whiff and carry your back to the wall or on the wall. A lot of players will be playing aggressive characters around me, so when they mess up I want to take full advantage of the whiff/punishment. Reason why Asuka lead since she can space a lot more safely and Lili for comeback power.

Not seen this team in action, but theory crafting that this team could go well together. Miguel can bully up close for the matchups Asuka gets bullied easily. This is more of an idea I need the game to come out to test if it will work how I think it will on paper.

currently maining asuka/jun. both got almost the same moves but of different properties which at times confuses people. jun's ground hitting f2 is one of em. other than that i guess it's simply because they have almost similar movesets which in a way makes it easier to master jun within a short time.

asuka/lee
currently trying this pair out.lee's ws2,3 compensates asuka's slow ws launcher. and also great wall carries combos.

Im hitting up Ask/Jun, for obvious reasons. Besides, decent showing of those 2 in Tekken Busters.

Asuka point team. Leo will "assist" her with great TA! damage. Leo can be solid while Asuka is healing. She also has top-tier wall-carry, a quick WS launcher, and an i15 hopkick all of which Asuka is lacking. Also they like each other :p

Angel or &

Similar to Kaz / Asu. Mishima mounts an offense and Asuka D's up once you have the lead. Seems like Angel and Hei will have the best mids out of the Mishima and I love me some good mids

BDC all day. poke, run, evade. 2 diff types of defenses (crush/evade & movement based) will be very annoying

I'm gonna be going with Asuka and Jun for most of the aforementioned reasons, plus I played jun in T2 first female character I played in a fighter I think.
Since both of them have f+2 the Asuka+Jun team will be really strong in whiff punishing tag crash and raw tag so that's a definite reason for using Jun.
I like Jun's elegance to counter Asuka's brute force and as Lobster said Jun seems more tricky with stance mix-ups and frame trap stuff kinda like Leo, so that will be nice to switch it up with if turtling with Asuka isn't working.
I'm probably gna dress them exactly the same just to troll and confuse people with whom I'm playing especially on fallen garden stage.

May play Asuka and Leo team if I can learn Leo properly, cause who doesn't like chicks that hit harder then men oh and Leo has hopkick and sweep-bang which add a nice pressure factor to the team.

Leo has a good i14 punisher (f+2,2) to compensate Asuka's bad punisher 3,1. Leo has good damage, like Lili, and has safe tools that can really pair out with Asuka.

Asuka has a 14f uf+2 for 48 damage and KND.



On-topic: I have two banapass cards, so I use two different teams with Asuka.

Main card: Asuka/Lili -> great wall carry, great wall damage. Both characters can also punish whiffs HARD, 50-60% including red life for Asuka's f+2~5 and Lili's d+3+4~5. Asuka for general safety, Lili in case I need to catch up.

Second card: Jun/Asuka -> team suited for red life killing; similar movesets with different playstyles (Jun's stance mixup game and Asuka's general safety) can confuse opponents

Yeah I know, but f+2,2 has good damage, good range, frame advantage on hit.

Lol, I'm not using any Banapass Card, but I know that you can set up unlimited teams on only ONE Card.

I didn't want to separate teams because the ranks will differ and it will be harder to find deathmatches. And the other card isn't mine, but my friend doesn't play as much, so I get to use it as well. I use it to switch around my characters.

Think of it as something similar to what Only Practice does. He has a card for Nina/Lars and another card for Lars/Leo.
