Roger Jr Consolidated Information Thread

This thread is a great start to creating a consolidated information thread for returning and new Roger Jr/Alex players. We will update this regular to correct it and add any new tech that we can find into it, but let this serve as the "one-stop shop" for people who are looking to gather info on Roger/Alex.

Early Japanese frame data has Roger's 2,1 at -2~-1 now instead of the old 0~+1. 1+2 looks the same as does df1>2. Nothing else jumped off the page at me in a quick glance.

I'm still going to main Roger jr, regardless of the changes they make. It's almost as if Namco is trying to get rid of anything advantageous for characters, period. I think they forgot why Roger was given such a tool to begin with.

Namco, release Alex as DLC... and all will be forgiven.

EDIT: Wasn't 2,1 +6 on hit in BR? ina Tekken has it listed as "+4~+5?". Clearly, the question mark indicates they are unsure...and I hope that it's still +6. If it's +5 or less, you lose df+2 as a solid follow up option. (Roger has other options, but I'm just saying df+2 would not be one of them anymore)

TTT2:
2,1 = +5 ==> Roger hits with 2,1. +5 now. Opponent jabs. Roger does df+2, Roger trades with opp.
2,1 = +4 ==> Roger hits with 2,1. +4 now. Opponent jabs. Roger does df+2, Roger eats opp jab.

Even df+1 suffers.
2,1 = +4 ==> Roger hits with 2,1. +4 now. Opponent jabs. Roger does df+1. Roger trades with opp.

So yeah...I hope Roger 2,1 is +6 on hit still. I know Roger still has 1+2, or df+4 etc...as followups. Just saying, making it -1 or -2 is nerfing it enough. No need to lower the +frames on hit. That's just insult to injury.

ss+4 wasn't all that much use anyways against a good opponent with patience. Though I still loved that move

I just hope that 1+2 is still +1 on block.

i saw in a vid that after df12 on block, roger block'd the opponent 1. maybe it is safe now? i don't know, maybe the opponent simply didn't punish in time -.-

Blocked df1,2 or blocked df1>2? Not trying to be a dick, just wondering if there was no delay between the 1 and the 2 as the properties change.

d/f1>2 has always been safe and NC with a proper (short) delay.

You can bind with df1+2 so you still can combo.

yes he's been nerfed. 21 losing frames on block/hit and ROC 1+2 are his two big nerfs so far. He has a better d/f3 now though and damage off of d/b3 has increased so things could be worse.

He is very likely still busted.

I haven't seen any frame data on b2 yet so I do not know what the start up is. Roger's frame data has been updated and it says 2,1 is now -2/+4/+4. That hurts him in some of his frame games and -10 and -12 punishment.

The game is supposed to be constantly patched and updated so I wouldn't worry too much about this stuff at this point.

That is real lame Namco. Making it -2 on block was nerf enough. Why nerf the +frames on hit? Why limit Rogs options after a successful punish?

yeah, that 21 frame data needs to be changed really bad. It's not like it didn't have drawbacks already (side step anyone?) only +4 on hit is just retarded.

His 10 and 12 frame punishment are easily some of the worst in the game because of that change.

People need to be at -7 to 8 at least after getting a hopkick punished.

Honestly, the only way Namco can take away some of this sting, is if they made b+2,4 a 12 frame punisher. I think if that was the case, at least Rog got a much welcomed buff to make up for all the pointless nerfs. If b+2,4 was a 12 frame punish... Then Rog's block punish, and especially whiff punish near a wall, would be awesome. And people would think twice about hitting the panic button with certain characters.

Sometimes I wonder, who makes the final decision on the nerfs/buffs. I don't think it's somebody who's really aware of the character dynamics. If Bob, Lars, or Steve had a 2,1 style move (10 frames, +6 on hit, 0 on block) ... yes, people might get a little irked. But nobody complained about Rog having it. And that's for good reason. But apparently somebody just saw 0 on block, +6 on hit and figured, "that shit has to go". lol I don't mean to go into salty rant mode. But I'm sure you guys know what I'm saying.

Oh well. I'm still playing Rog regardless of the nerfs.
