------------------------------------------------------- Updated Info: 7-30-2009
Okay, with the tournament being next weekend, I have a couple of announcements to prepare for whats ahead:
August 1st: Melody Contest
On Saturday, I will update the website a bit. This update will include a brief contest for all guaranteed participants on next weekend's festivities. I'm going to upload 5 video game related songs. The first person to provide the correct game titles for all games will be able to enter any and all tournaments free of charge. This will be awarded to one person. Reply via the e-mail that will be provided. The files will be actual game music and not arranged songs. You must still pay the mandatory $5 fee and other incentive contest that Mayn Event Revival will provide.
If no one claims all 5 songs, The winner will be the first reply with the most correct answers. Their reward will be a percentage based on the amount of correct answers for one tournament only.
Ex: If the winner has 4 of the 5 correct, they will get 80% off a single tournament entry. One correct answer = 20% off. And so on.
==============================
The previous media developers who recorded past Mayn Events are unavailable (Forgo from Flint moved to Colorado and CD-DT is out in Cali). If possible, I need someone to record tournament footage for The Mayn Event - professionally. Please PM me if you can do this.
==============================
There will only be one machine tournament machine available for the following games: Tekken 6 BR, and Street Fighter IV. I'm pretty confident that I can still get all tournaments complete inside of a day, but all tournaments must start on time and enforced. The second Tekken 6 Machine will be converted to BR, but not in time for the tournament. This means that there will be one tournament dedicated to Tekken 6: BR and another for casual play (standard Tekken 6).
==============================
Will also need a co-volunteer to host the tournament, particularly when multiple tournaments are going on.
Trophy and plaques have been ordered and will arrive on schedule. End Update
-------------------------------------------------------
After much delay and ironing out some stuff behind the scenes, I'm proud to present the next Chapter in The Mayn Event Tournament Series . As with every year, each Mayn Event Tournament is unlike the other - this year will be unique since this will be the first tournament that will NOT happen during the month of May. There are announcements that will occur that will tie everything together from Revival to Endgame. I'm making it so that everyone can get involved, and everyone has a chance to win something. Please read below for all of the details involving The Mayn Event Revival.
======================================= July 5th, 2009: Anniversary
=======================================
This date will mark the 10th Anniversary of me taking in the Judgment Day name from the former Tekken Tag Tournament dot com website. To celebrate this anniversary, and for further (and future) tournament preparations, Mayn Event dot com will be revived. Already, the index page has preview of all the important dates needed for the Revival Tournament.
======================================= August 7th-9th, 2009: Revival and Epilogue
=======================================
The Mayn Event Revival Tournaments
Location
Tournament Location is at American Fun Center
Oakland Mall
642 West 14 Mile Road
Troy, MI 48083
T: 248-616-9500
Note that this is the same location as The Ultimate Mayn Event from 2007. The arcade now has internet access for people who need to use the computer for tournament updates. We are pushing for all Friday and Saturday to be open until Midnight for practice and tournament play. There might be other games available to play such as Tekken Tag Tournament (arcade). This is NOT set in stone, so don't assume that these games will arrive when August hits. However, the staff is pushing to receive these games for the entertainment purposes only. Note that this will primarily be a Tekken based tournament as it was originally intended back in 2000.
General Tournament Rules for All Tournaments
My tournaments dictate promptness and organization to the best of my ability. All I ask is for you to show up on time when your name is called. Spero Gin can testify that we have disqualified numerous people due to tardiness. I have no problem doing this again.
This will be a 100% arcade based tournament. Tekken 5DR has controller ports and the staff is working to get controller ports for Tekken 6BR. By August, AFC should have upgraded their 2nd Tekken 6 machine for 2 total BR machines. There will be 2 Tekken 5DR machines available by default. Tekken cards for both games should be available.
No ties allowed. An automatic tie declaration will automatically forfeit ALL winnings and bonuses not awarded. Please read this rule again if you didn't get it the first time.
All games will have default settings.
Any banned techniques will be addressed and listed here. They will be prohibited during tournament play once noted. Any use of a banned technique is subject to disqualification on discretion. Official disqualification in this circumstance will forfeit your match set. So if you're in the winner's bracket for using a banned technique, you're automatically sent to the loser's bracket. The same scenario for a loser's bracket will eliminate you from the tournament.
ANY use of foul play, deliberate damage to the facilities, or action that causes you to leave the American Fun Center (or Oakland Mall) per staff will result in immediate removal from the tournament with NO refunds or rewards whatsoever. This rule is VALID from Friday to the very end of all tournaments.
Entry Fee
If you enter any of the tournaments listed, it will require a one-time $5 fee. ANY award or incentive that refunds the player WILL NOT involve this $5 fee. And there will be numerous chances that multiple players will be able to attend the tournament at no charge outside of the $5. So remember: Whatever you're awarded, if you want to enter ANY of these tournaments, you must pay a minimum of $5.00.
======================================= August 7th

See next post
This thread is long enough as it is, so I'll put this information in my next post.
======================================= August 9th
=======================================
All tournaments, given exceptions, will end at 11:00PM. Tournament Play will continue at Noon the following day. Casual play will be allowed from 11PM - Close, which again, is extended hours.
======================================= Other
======================================= What's Roulette Money Match?
Cash Award per Match: $20 for all matches
This is something that was implemented for the past 4 Mayn Events. Before each Bracket Segment, a series of tickets are drawn. After an entire Bracket Segment is complete (Winners or Losers), the winning tickets are announced. If you have the winning ticket, and you won your match to advance in the tournament, you'll receive a cash bonus on the spot...which in this case is $20.
You're eligible to win multiple cash bonuses as well...so if you have 3 ticket winners and you meet the above criteria, that's $60. The amounts awarded are subject to change.
What if you lose?
If you lose, another drawing will occur in the next segment of the tournament. So if you're in the Winners Bracket, and you LOSE even if your ticket is drawn, you do NOT win the prize. Another drawing will take place in the Losers Bracket. This will continue until all winners are found for each tournament. You'll also lose if your ticket is announced and you don't claim your prize. This makes it VERY important to be around during the entire tournament until elimination.
Ticket Procedure
Tickets will be drawn in a procedure that will allow everyone to be eligible to win. For example, if we have a 64-man bracket: I'll draw 10 tickets. If we have 3 winners receiving money from those tickets, 7 more tickets will be drawn for the next part of the bracket (more than likely the Losers Bracket). If a ticket is drawn where a player is not in that part of the bracket, tickets will be redrawn until we get a player from that Bracket Segment. Roulette Money Matches will begin when we have a FULL bracket. In other words, if we have a turnout of 70 players, it will not officially begin until we're down to 64 in the Winner's Bracket. This eliminates the possibility of ticket winners who are playing against 'byes'.
Tickets can ONLY be drawn and held by the Ticket Administrator.
Administrator Exception
As usual, I'm buying tickets. Ordinarily, the names are announced after that part of the bracket is done. If my name is drawn, it will be announced before the bracket begins.

For the first three bracket advancements: Winning team must rotate their first member. The final player of the three must be the lead-off player in the next bracket stem. After that area of the tournament, teams can choose whatever order they want. Teams in the losers bracket do not have to worry about this rule. This is to ensure that all members of each team plays at some point.

WOW. looking at all the prices and stuff for the games. ille deffinetly be there to my first mayn even tournament hope to meet everyone there!!
If you are bringing people, let me know. I intend to make a quick registration form on the home page of my website prior to its redesign. I'll have both that and the team tournament information by the end of the week.
As far as Street Fighter IV, first and foremost, we have to get the game in. Once it actually arrives, we'll discuss it further and come to a decision on the role the game will play for The Revival. I still want to make Tekken series the feature naturally.
Lastly, it's to my understanding that you have a couple of high ranking cards for DR. If possible, I need to talk to you regarding the card battle tournament.

well if theres pad ports some other plays wll come and i will def go but if not then it would be a nono since im a pad player.
as for the card battle tournament, i believe it should be for BR, since im sure alot of players don;t own DR cards anymore and i lost my legend lee card and most players have BR cards noow so you might as well host a BR card battle tournament.
Thank you for your insight, fightinggm. A couple of points worth noting:
Maybe I should've brought this up initially, but the Tekken 6 BR machine will be based on the International Version
I will change the card battle and convert it to Tekken 6 BR instead of Tekken 5 DR. The possible downside I see to this is that in addition to the Team Tournament, I can easily see the card battle being pushed back to Sunday. The card battle was going to be an invite (more or less) of players with higher ranked cards. So depending who is willing, we can resolve that Sunday morning/early afternoon.
Street Fighter IV is at American Fun Center as of a couple of days ago. 2 Cabinets which are technically 4 cabinets linked into pairs. There's been demand for me to actually hold a tournament on this game, which is up in the air. However, I will say this: This tournament thread has seen a lot of views for the proportionate amount of posts. If you really want to have a tournament in SFIV, let me know...but it's under the stipulations that it will be arcade based, just like everything else listed. So basically just don't look at this thread and go elsewhere if you feel that there's some sort of credit or merit to attending based on what I'm offering.
All of the rules and regulations are subject to change until the week of July 5th. When that week ends (1 month prior to Revival), barring any unusual circumstances, the tournament lists and rules will be final.
If Street Fighter IV is to become part of Mayn Event Revival, it's arguably one of the hotter games around. Having incentives for DR and not SFIV doesn't seem justified. So there's a small possibility that some of the incentives may be shifted to promote SFIV.
Again, I'll have a registration form available sometime this weekend, along with additional rules for the side tournaments.
I forgot all about controller ports. I know they ordered them but who knows what happened with that. I don't have any PS2 pads anyway so I wouldn't have an advantage with that.
Fuckers should have put USB ports in them so that you can hook up a PS3 controller instead
Just wanted to let people know that the controller ports have arrived and WILL be installed/functional by the time tournament day hits. Also was slightly set back on the registration form (and team criteria), but should have that up Saturday. I recommend everyone to take a look at it even if I know that you're going.

Great. I got to head up there one of these days and test it out.
Sup Judgment Day, I remembered talking to you about trying to start something up.. Im really looking forward to going.. if you need help with anything for the tourney lemme know. PM me. Im planning on being there on the 7th of August.. Im Lookn forward to seeing Ali and Panther.. its been while guys..
Panther you remember Lei TOO LONG!! hehe nickname since TTT days...
Pitch Black: Let me know if you bring anyone on your trip. I've been kind of delayed on a few things (side tournament regulations, etc), but rest assured I'm on it. Just remember to keep tabs on stuff Mayn Event related up to and including tournament day.
Okay, I updated a few things since my last post worth noting:
+ Added the rules to the team related tournaments
+ Added Street Fighter IV to the Tournament Roster
- Removed the Card Contest. I think a lot of this can get settled on Friday, as it did during the Ultimate Mayn Event 2 years ago.
- Removed the June thru July Competition Section. There doesn't seem to be many tournaments going on, BUT I will still honor them upon conditions through PM.
- Minor tweaks to the original post
What I'm going to do is post up pdf rules so that the user can print just the games that they're interested in as opposed to reading though these massive posts. They're not up now (indicated by the 'x' on the site), but they'll be up by Friday alongside a tournament promotional flier. With one month to go, at that point, it's pure promotion. In other words, I'll do my part, but a huge part of what makes the Mayn Event 'what it is' is by spreading the word and bringing people in for the experience.
I'll post the Street Fighter IV stuff to see if it draws interest tonight.
PS: There are three hints at some other stuff on the splash page I made for The Mayn Event Website. You'll have to see for yourself to decipher what it means.
