It'd be an honor if I could get some advice for my Alisa as well. I want to become better with her. Here's some gameplay : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7p2DOkdkM0

1:13 - raw tag gets punished hard. You can use Alisa's 1+2+4 when raw tagging to instant block mid/high launchers; but don't abuse this, or else you will eat unblockables or even worse stuff.

1:22 - punish with f+1+2

1:26 - probably just an input error? You could've hopkicked him there.

2:13 - could've done f+2,4 there to splat

2:48 - duck the 2nd hit. If you block it, you can 1,4,3 him.

4:02 - don't throw this out randomly, it's at least -17 (I think it's -20) on block. Only input the 1 when you see your opponent whiff something.

7:36 - whiff punish with f+1+2 here; df+2 won't reach and I don't think b+3+4 and ff+1+2 will hit in time

7:39 - don't throw out 1,2 randomly, it's bad on whiff and easily steppable

7:51 - df+2 here. At least you punished his whiff, but you could've gotten more.

7:57 and 8:03 - punish with uf+3+4

8:08 - correct punishment, just a bit late

8:26 - punish with f+1+2 or f+3,2

8:30 - punish with df+2

8:36 - input error I assume

9:02 - df+2

9:42 - try not to use getup 4 at the wall, if it got blocked you would've gotten shouldered for over half life

12:35 - again, less 1,2 in the open. Your opponent got this to work three times now.

12:44 - df+2 here

13:32 - f+2,4

14:10 - uf+3+4

Overall: less raw tags, less tag dive/slide. You're vulnerable to launchers even when you're airborne (dive) or close to the ground (slide). I've had situations where my character was horizontal (nothing touching the floor) and I got hopkicked for a full launch.

Don't throw out 1,2 often, it'll get stepped most of the time. Instead, when you block stuff and expect him to step (such as the commonly used df+1 -> ss launcher setup), throw out b+1, or even f+4,1,4 if you're 100% sure he'll step.

Punishment is good, just a few adjustments to maximize punishment damage. Also keep an eye out for whiffs and launch him for those.

Movement is also good. Try to step more with Alisa and force whiffs. Other than that, everything is fluid.

I hope this helps.

P.S. Congrats on the win here.

Thank you Demoyon for the advice! I had no idea Alisa's f+1+2 was able to punish so many things. Same with Bruce's uf+3+4. Currently playing TT2 and applying all that advice now. Again, thanks.

Since no-one has posted any videos in a while, here're two of mine from over the weekend. I'd love to see people pick it apart and tell me where I need to improve. Both videos only have 1 set of my matches.

Nothing too in depth here, because I don't have the time to put into it right now, but I'll point out a few things that really struck me about your gameplay. I'm not going to tell you about the good stuff you did, because there's plenty of it, and you don't really need to hear it. Just the stuff that could be improved.

You get punished on tags a lot. Like a LOT. Find a way to tag safely. I don't know if Kuni/Alisa have any team tag throws (probably not), but you could use this as a method to get the other character in safely. I didn't see you use it at all, even though your opponents showed that they were inconsistent at breaking throws. You could also tag safely off a knockdown, etc. Do NOT raw tag just because your point character is low on health. You do it consistently, and it's costing you matches, because your opponent is looking for it.

You use a lot of running 2. Not a bad thing by itself, but it gets predictable. Watching the vids, I'd get to this point where I'd think "running 2", and you'd do it. Mix it up. Particularly in situations where you don't get anything spectacular off it (e.g. next to the wall).

You do a lot of random risky stuff. It's a stylistic difference to how I play, and also how I advocate playing (which is to play solid wherever possible), but you occasionally make it work. Still, there are times where risks can be taken, and other times where I don't understand the risk at all. There are several occasions where you're ahead on life, and you can easily run away/poke to death, and you throw out a b3+4. Needless risk. Sure, it can occasionally pay off, but then again, you can poke to death, and win with less risk, as opposed to handing the opponent a free launcher.

Some sub-optimal punishers/juggles, but...eh.

If I have time later, I can write stuff up more formally later on, but this is it at a glance.

Appreciate it, that helps a lot. You're right, running 2 is my main "aggression" tool for Alisa, I really should stop doing it as much. My willingness to get raw-tag punished (hopefully not launched) is directly related to how much red life I have for my point char.

I'll keep the risky stuff in mind. I know a lot of times the risk reward isn't there, but that's just my playstyle - I probably got ahead in life doing risky stuff in the first place.

You're heavily offensive player. I don't think I ever saw you back off and wait for an opportunity to whiff punish.

You have the habit of pushing buttons when your opponent goes offensive or you're at a disadvantage, which typically leads to you getting punished heavily.

Running 2 should be used at your opponent is getting up, not to close the distance between you and your opponent. They can easily duck and punish. Switching between running 3, 4 is good but at high play it leaves u at a disadvantage if blocked.

Totally agreed - I've definitely got my running 2 ducked enough. But if the opponent continues to block for the fear of running 3 4, I continue to do running 2.

On frame disadvantage, I usually try to do a sidestep or backdash, depending on how much disadvantage it is. But totally agree, I like to jab when I know I'm at -1 to -4. I get sidestepped and launched a lot for whiffing jabs.

getting launched for jabs hurts especially to alisa alot of people get full combos off ss launches ;\.

Hi guys, another round of Kuni/Alisa videos. Against Mr Naps, starting at 14:00.
It's about the most amount of respect I can ever give an opponent, no gimmicks, assuming he knows everything there is about my characters, etc.

Just yesterday, there was a successful tournament here in the Philippines where three of Japan's top players (Nobi, Genkids, Jackller) visited the country and participated.

Watch me get owned by Genkids here lol

Here's the playlist to see the rest of the matches. Not everything was uploaded yet though; including my round 2 matches. Unfortunately, not every match was recorded too.
