It's been that way since T6BR.
I think DVJ has a move that does it too.

Ling and Alisa are my "mains"
But the main reason I use the more is because they're higher ranked than my Jack/Yoshi so I can't use the other teams during DMs. If I could I'd be using Jack/Alisa, Yoshi/Alisa, and Jack/Ling all the time as well.

I believe it's some kind of tricks/mix-ups/set-ups that attempts to condition your opponent to behave in a certain manner. For example, during a match if u keep doing SS4 after u sidestep, the opponent will starts crouching whenever you sidestep so you can start mixing it up with side step to 1+2. These type of mix-ups are known as SS shenanigans. That's my understanding of shenanigans.

From what I gather, the only reason sodam gets away with any is because:
A: he only does it during oki and post combo pressure
B: Koreans for some unknown reason never bother to learn how to stop xiaoyu from rolling. The amount of times people have tried to launch him with punches while he's in RDS baffles me.

It's not just Koreans...

Sodam clowned on Fab and RIP, just like he does with the Korean people he plays, when they went there for Tekken Crash

FAB plays against LM
RIP has Shauno and Calsonic.

A pretty cool example of Xiao shenanigans can be found at the 47:55 mark of this vanilla TTT2 video between Sodam and Qudans.

Linky

Sodam tags in Ling on the left side and connects this juggle: CH SS 4, f,f+3, RDS 2, 2, 2,1, f,f+1+2,1+2~5. This tags in Paul to continue the juggle, but Sodam does a Demoman combo that whiffs. Xiao auto tags in and does a SSL 3 which Paul's body is hiding. Qudans tech rolls and gets re-juggled by the power sweep, which costs him the round.

That's not something you can abuse of course, but stuff like that is fun when it works.

Very nice trick!

Btw,where can I find more Xiaoyu matches on youtube?
It's hard to find Xiaoyu's matches.

And any good Xiaoyu pros to watch?
I'm a fan of Kiru from Japan.

There's another trick with that whiffed demoman ender.
Saw a vid where the opponent tag crashes after sodam's whiffed demoman ender.
The char that jumps in hits paul and ling, standing safely behind paul, launches with df2~1 easily.
Same shit will prob happen if they try wake up kicks.

Hmmm, Bruce isn't too technical and is a pretty strong character. Give him a try.
