Just wondering, who was considered the best character in Tekken 2?
Awhile back I found a really interesting post on SRK from someone who said he played a bunch of T1 and 2 in Korean arcades back in the day. I personally can't say how much of this stuff is legit so I'll just summarize and let someone here test...
God tier: Armor King, Wang, Bruce
High tier: Mishimas
Bruce = stupid juggle damage even by this game's standards, very safe, f+2,d+4,3 guaranteed the 2nd & 3rd hits on block (?)
Wang = waning moon into 100% combos, 111 was a combo on normal hit
Armor King = great throws, d/f+1 (guaranteed juggles on block!), WGF
Kazuya = basic Mishima stuff, 100% combo from WS2, only character with a sidestep
Heihachi = basic Mishima stuff, got more free shit from hellsweep than the others?
Devil = stripped-down version from the above two but still great
Personally I don't see how Kaz isn't god tier... *shrug*
BTW, a couple funny things about Version A: Bruce had a juggle infinite with double knees and was apparently banned in Korea because of that, and Baek's hunting hawk guaranteed the 2nd & 3rd hits on block.
What about in version B? I have a friend who's got the old Tekken 2 official guide. It claims that Paul and Kazuya are top tier. Of course that's the official guide I really doubt as much extensive play has gone into that as it has with the community.
I seem to remember something about a Tekken 1 character that was partially developed but didn't make it into the full game, anyone have any info/links? Thanks in advance.
My cousin once told me about a move in either Tekken 1 or 2 that Jack or Jack-2 could perform where he would take a couple steps toward the opponent and tap them in the head with his finger and completely drain their life bar. Maybe he was just messin with me but i've been curious about this move lol

Introduced in Tekken 2 with P. Jack. f+4~1.
The move's legacy lives on in Tekken 6 as the best way to beat Nancy.

in T1, AK was god tier. He was basically King with WGF and TGF but what made him better than the other mishimas was King's df+1 insane +99999999999 frames on block. He also had d+1,N+2 (like King) which was low,mid at the time, which was insanely hard to block.
after him, possibly King himself. He was rated also pretty high too (again because of df+1), he didn't have WGF like AK, but his f,f+2 made up for that.
in T2 the top tier was either Bruce or Wang, can't really remember. Bruce because of knees, Wang because of Waning Moon.
AK/King df+1 was toned down, no frames on block so no god tier Kings anymore. Generic d+1s were made sm, thus d+1,N+2 wasn't cheap for chipping damage anymore. AK was still terrific because of WGF but King sucks major balls. Multis sucked. He still had his throws though.
Hei was the best Mishima, still had uf+3,4, still had hellsweep juggles and a lot other stuff like deathfist and d+1,2.
Angel/Devil was inferior to Kaz. Kaz had WS+1,2 and WS+2 to punish lows (WS+2 = 100% dmg combo) in addition to the standing version of the Twin Pistons. Kaz also had df+4,4 which was guaranteed after a single hellsweep on bigs iirc.
