So I have a few questions. I'm not a TOTAL beginner, but I'm very new to this newer Tekken (the last Tekken game I played seriously was Tag, and I haven't touched a Tekken game since 2k3 until last week - I've been playing Capcom fighters the last eight years)

I went through some of my old characters, and I can't really seem to get a handle on them, but after experimenting with a lot of new characters, I like the way Lars feels.

I was wondering if you could share some pointers with me, so I know where to begin.

Basic Qs about Lars:
1. BnB combos?
2. Priority attacks?
3. Anything to bait attacks with?

Any other advice / tips you want to share, please do so.

Hi and Welcome to the Lars forum.

Most of the questions you seek are in this forum.

1. Combos on first page but I prefer MYK's List.

2. Most of Lars' movelist is really good so I would recommend to learn frame data and look at Lars' Frame Data and notice what moves are punishable. The majority of his movelist is safe but you need to watch out for what isn't.

Most of the moves you'll see are,
1,2 (tracking)
2,1
f+2,4 (mostly block and whiff punishment)
d,f+1
d,f+2
d,b+2,1 (first hit tracks right, 2nd tracks both)
b+1 (homing)
f+1+2 (launch and whiff punishment)
ff+1+2
d+4_db+1
db+4
uf+3 (high and low crush - use this sparingly)
uf+4

There's a lot more but just read through some of the sticked threads (and others like the Top 10 thread) and you'll see similar results.

3. In Tekken most of the baiting done is from movement. By sort of "dancing" back and forth you create a guessing game for the opponent. Lars really doesn't have any particular "moves" to bait attacks, unless you want to leave yourself open.

He can cancel his DE stance (f+3) by pressing any direction other than f or b and then by repeating the process you can create a pseudo wavedash. But this is nowhere close to a Mishima wave dash and more often than not, you'll get hit out of it. But it's okay to cover distance once and a while and create a mixup from it.

Also, take a look at my FAQ for more info.

What does that SE1 stuff mean?

Couldn't find it in the legend.

Thank you so much for all that awesome information!

Silent Entry. There's 3 moves from it. SE1 (mid -11 with pushback), SE2, (low, launch punishable), and SE3 (launcher).

You can get into it from other moves. Like db+2~f, f+1,2~f, DE1~f etc. It should all be in my FAQ and Movelist.

Hey bud,

I went to try all of these:

f1+2
- db2, db21, fb21, B!, db2~f, SE1 (69)
- db2, db21, fb21, B!, df1, db2~f, SE3 (72)
- db2, db21, fb21, B!, df1, db2~f, SE1 (74)
- ws4, ss, db21, fb21, B!, df1, db2~f, SE1 (76)
- ws4, ss, db21, fb21, B!, iSW (76)

and I'm having a problem with getting the hits AFTER the bound. Typically everything until that point is fine though.

I tried some others that start with the bound, and even got some bound combos off of the priority moves you told me about, but I can't seem to get that one string down. Is there some sort of dashing that I need to do to get closer?

B! df+1, db+2~f SE1_3 is a bit tricky. The damage and wall carry is worth it but if you're just starting off with Lars, I really wouldn't bother with it for now. But if you wanna know how, it's the first question in my FAQ down near the end.

You should at least be doing the simple B! db+2~f, SE3. SE3 does 2 pts less than SE1 but the oki is better since it leaves you closer to the opp. SE1 is good though if you want to push them away.

I was going to allow this, because it seemed helpful, but then I realized that this could all be taken care of with the QnA thread. So...clsd.
