What I don't get is why Namco can get better and better with Soul Calibur practice, but Tekken gets worse and worse.

The game hasnt been released on console yet, the game you have been playing is not the final version, if you look carefully you cant even record matches, something the Tekken team has confirmed. Also there are some typos in the command lists, for instance, Yoshis d/b+1,1 is listed as d/b+1,2. And I'm sure in the final version it wont say "VS battle" at the bottom of the screen like it does now. Not sure but there seems to be missing some customize items as well.
In short: Dont worry, I'm almost 99% sure there will be command capture in the Tekken 6 you will buy from your store.
it could be infinitely worse. i think just having a arcade perfect vs battle is good enough. youve all been waiting for the game to play against each other, not to sit around in practice mode. whats wrong with learning it in game play? is record mode THAT important where you absolutely rather NOT PLAY THE GAME.

@insanelee: I don't think people will refuse to play/buy the game just because of these faults. The point here is that these omissions are what makes the console version much more accessible to those who want to go in-depth learning the frame data, setups, etc.
You're right, we could learn the nuances in game play, but command capture in practice mode would be infinitely more convenient, especially if you don't have someone to test things out with you

Got back from the Tekken 6 launch party talked to InJoon brand manager at namco about this, and I heard other news that Mr.Wizard from SRK is saying they'll patch it.
Thing I heard is that, it takes around 3 weeks or so for a patch to go through microsoft, and they won't release a ps3 patch before the xbox one, so yeah. I heard we have to wait about 3~6 weeks before we can see a patch for this. Hey, at least they said it'll come, so there's hope.

i feel that, but see, i got some tekken heads where i moved to, but i know for a fact im just not gonna have time to meet up with people as much as i would like. i aint in good ol maryland anymore. so to substitute that, i would literally love to be able to spend hours just testing out how to punish shit in practice mode, so at the very least i know how to rock someones face properly when they throw out that dumb shit.
i got the tekken experience that i can already transition over, but most of all right now, i need to be able to go beyond what is just on the forums and videos right now. sounds like i need to get a life. lol, but im really lookin forward to goin mad hard with this new tekken. if i was in md, like i was talking to my boy earlier, i was like, you straight, yall will find out through hours of casuals. i on the other hand will be reading endless pages of shit on zaibatsu and watching mad crazy videos until i can record commands. but if what you say is true myk, and they aint bullshitting, then thank god. ill just occupy my time learning proper shit other ways.

if this points done right, t6 is 100% perfekt for me
its not so much practicing just rage death combos, but what damage risk you're taking by doing something. so if someone is in rage, you could be like, i might do this risky shit thats jab punishable in hopes of him not expecting it, whatever, but i know even in rage he cant kill me, or no, i gotta play it safe because that 1, 4 from bryan will kill me. very simple to understand if your in touch with your fan base. not you, namco. still cant wait to play tekken though.
um, im pretty sure it has a combo counter, and i know for a fact you can put on auto defense. it does have a new defensive training option with options that were not choices before in tekken.

but can player two in vs (assuming that they will be using p1's profile) still have access to p1's customs?
the one thing im not liking tho its minor is the 'challenger' champion' 'arcade mode' 'vs mode' info along the bottom of the screen during gameplay - get rid of it!
Record option is absolutely indispensable. I'm not exaggerating by saying that if this feature isn't added, I'm not going to buy T6BR & there goes Tekken for me. I've been away too long from the game, the average Tokyo J-players play like abusive dicks & I really need this feature to research everything in-depth. Talk about a kick in the nuts.

Really hope the patch will add both a record to practice mode and customization for player 2 offline.
It'd be great if you could use portable memory devices to use your customized character/profile on a another console the way you could with VF4 and 5. Provided it had fast load times this'd be a nice addition for offline tournaments.
